This timelapse movie shows the telescopes at top of the Roque de los Muchachos on a very clear night on La Palma.

Description

On this timelapse movie you can see most of the telescopes which are placed on top of the Roque de los Muchachos on La Palma. Typically for this place is the sea of clouds which can be seen in foreground. However the formation of some kind of "cloud tornado" just a few minutes after sundawn is a special thing and looks fascinating. Apart from an uncountable number of stars you can see the milkyway very bright. Polaris is in the middle of the video and so is the point to rotate for all the other stars.

I wanted to know how you shoot a time lapse form night and day without getting flickering in the lapse. won't your image become over exposed if you set it up for night, then day comes?

That's truly amazing - as well as the sky, you've got the telescopes working too!

Hi Pacocreative, yes I use a deflicker program which I developed. It works direcly with the RAW files to get the best result possible. A laptop which is connected to the camera automatically changes the settings of the camera to fit the current light situation, and switches to manual at night.
